Bonn, Germany: H.E. Mr. Takeshi Nakane, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany from Japan made an official visit to Richard Dictus, Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme.

Richard took the occasion to thank the Ambassador for Japan’s continued support to UNV, notably through the Japan Trust Fund, and affirmed UNV’s interest in strengthening the partnership. The new Executive Coordinator mentioned Malawi’s case as a good example of a Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) -related collaboration at the country level. In Malawi, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Japanese Embassy closely developed a TICAD country framework. The creation of the new UNV Youth Programme was also discussed with great interest at the meeting.

Ambassador Nakane and Richard agreed on the importance of recognising volunteers’ service for humanity worldwide.

UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
