Kadélé Elvige Vincent Bohouo: Selflessly contributing to the lives of others

In his role as a Partnership Analyst, his tasks varied. He reviewed partnership requests and crafted relevant funding proposals. He contributed to the design and regular updates of the database of partners from the public, private, media and civil society sectors in West and Central Africa.

Beyond his daily responsibilities, his commitment to making a difference extended to a social action project for the children of two orphanages, organized through United Nations Volunteers (UNV). Through this endeavour, funding was collected to get essential provisions for the children. This project not only had a notable impact on the children’s lives but also enriched the lives of the volunteers themselves, acting as a reminder of the joy to be found through selfless giving. 

Furthermore, this assignment opened doors for Kadélé Elvige Vincent Bohouo to become more actively involved in efforts toward disability inclusion in the Ivory Coast. He delivered multiple training sessions, spreading knowledge and awareness embodying the aim of the United Nations to create a more inclusive environment on the global scale. 

He has an amputation in the left leg. His team was quick to make accommodations. He was given an ergonomic office chair, an accessible office that did not require access via stairs, and his supervisor also agreed to a flexible work schedule with the possibility of working from home. Sharing his feelings, he says, “The United Nations offers an inclusive working environment that will enable you to realize your potential.” 

As he returns to his posting in Bouaké, he says, “My UN Volunteer assignment enhanced my self-confidence by taking me out of my comfort zone. It made me believe in myself.”
