The Report is submitted in light of experience gained in the relatively short period in the implementation of the United Nations Volunteer programme since full operations commenced in 1972. UNV has since the beginning monitored and evaluated the work of its volunteers through regular performance reports and field visits to complement the on-going evaluation carried out by the UNDP Resident Representatives and by the agencies of the United Nations development system.
