Prevention of violent extremism
The security situation in West and Central Africa remains tense. According to the 2022 Global Terrorism Index, 48 per cent of terrorism-related deaths occurred in Africa. The prevention of violent extremism is thus a priority. Discover how integrating strategies to prevent extremism in national action plans, raising awareness towards the risks of extremist groups and reinforcing community resilience can contribute to achieving this goal in West and Central Africa – and how UN Volunteers play a role in it.
