Anh Nguyen Thi Yen: Optimism leads to achievement
Anh Nguyen Thi Yen serves as an Education Officer for Digital Inclusion at UNICEF Vietnam. Yen Anh's story is one of personal triumph and resilience in facing challenges.
Born and raised in Vietnam, Yen Anh, despite being visually impaired harboured a dream of working for an international organization. She pursued her passion for inclusive education, empathizing deeply with the struggles faced by persons with disabilities, particularly children, in accessing quality education. It was this passion that led her to join the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
As an Education Officer for Digital Inclusion, Yen Anh's responsibilities ensure that children with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities, particularly in the digital sphere.
Despite the challenges posed by her visual disability, Yen Anh has embraced her assignment with vigour, advocating for digital accessibility and leveraging technology to empower children with disabilities.
Through her efforts, she has spearheaded projects focused on digital innovations for children with disabilities, enhancing their learning outcomes and fostering greater independence. Moreover, her advocacy for digital accessibility has led to positive changes within her workplace, making it more inclusive and supportive for individuals with disabilities.
As a UN Volunteer, she has had the opportunity to engage with diverse cultures, support sustainable development, and advocate for education equality and inclusion.
As Yen Anh reflects on her journey, she finds inspiration in the words of Helen Keller, a beacon of hope for individuals with disabilities: "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."
