Who we are

United Nations Volunteers (UNV) is based in Bonn, Germany, with around 300 staff members at headquarters. In 2024, there were over 14,600 UN Volunteers deployed in some 170 countries around the world. UNV has an offices in New York and Tokyo, six regional offices in Amman, Bangkok, Dakar, Istanbul, Nairobi and Panama City, and 60 Field Units. Toily Kurbanov is the Executive Coordinator of UNV.

The Annual Report 2021 highlights the achievements of UNV and its 10,921 UN Volunteers, who serve across the three pillars of the United Nations system: development, peace and security, and human rights. In recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of UNV, it includes reflections on developments since 1971, when the first UN Volunteers were deployed.
