For International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2019, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Viet Nam will have a joint celebration with UN agencies and thematic groups. The theme of the celebration will focus on equality and human rights for LGBTI groups in the country. UNV is partnering with UN Women, the UN Human Rights Thematic Group, Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

For IVD, we are organizing a national celebration of volunteers. This will include an exhibit on the Sustainable Development Goals and and a fair of volunteer organizations to celebrate volunteerism for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. For our International Volunteer Day Event 2019, The UNICEF UN Volunteer colleagues are developing activities for the IVD, there will be music  perfomance, dance meetings between local and migrant cultural groups, a painting activity with migrant and colombian children and youth and a gastronomic exchange with Christmas dishes that will be prepared by people living in settlements. In the afternoon there will be a day of sports and cultural integration between the UNV community and the volunteers who support different initiatives in tha municipality.

Events are being organized around the world to promote volunteering, to award the most dedicated volunteers and to inspire people to act for a better future.

UN Volunteers in Nepal are organising booths in different locations of Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur and accross the seven provinces in Nepal to promote volunteerism and inclusion. These will have information on how to became a Volunteer and details about variious agencies who work on volunteerism in Nepal. A blood donation programme will be held at the volunteer booth in Tribhuvan University in coordination with national youth council and Ministry of Youth and Sports members. A number of agencies working on volunteerism will join the event.
