UN Community Volunteers address growing agriculture and migration challenges caused by climate change

Dr Makhfousse Sarr is a Programme Manager and Assistant of the Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Senegal. In this video testimony, he talks about the contribution of UN Community Volunteers to two of FAO's flagship projects: the Great Green Wall initiative and the Cross-Border Rest Project.

The Great Green Wall of the Sahara and Sahel initiative is one of the most ambitious programmes to combat climate change and desertification and fight food insecurity and poverty on the African continent.

Adopted by the African Union in 2007, the Great Green Wall initiative brings together more than 20 African countries, in addition to international organizations, research institutes, civil society and community-based organizations.
