United Nations Volunteers (UNV) presents Findings on Regional and Global Volunteer Trends at 2024 CICA Rally of Volunteers under the auspices of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Youth Council on 3 October 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The event brings together 19 international delegations to exchange ideas and best practices in volunteerism across the region.
During the forum, UNV will update participants on the recognition of volunteers by Member States through resolution A/RES/78/127 adopted by the General Assembly proclaiming 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development. The presentation will also address the implementation of this international initiative at both national and global levels.
UNV will also introduce the upcoming State of the World’s Volunteerism Report 2025 (SWVR), a comprehensive analysis of global volunteer trends and their contributions to sustainable development.
One of the key highlights of UNV’s participation is the presentation of the State of Volunteering in Central Asia Review (VCARE), which offers the first comprehensive analysis of volunteerism across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. VCARE captures the evolution of volunteerism, highlights volunteers' contributions, and identifies emerging best practices.
The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) brings together 28 Member States and about half of the world's population, and is the largest regional intergovernmental forum in Asia to promote peace and security in the region.
UNV, administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), contributes to peace and development worldwide through volunteerism. Volunteerism is recognized as a powerful means of engaging people in addressing development challenges.
