SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals
This Portal will feature an Evidence Library that will synthesize evidence products from partners focusing on cross-cutting thematic areas such as youth, gender, climate change and inequality and other on-demand topics that will help enhance our understanding of the contribution of volunteering to a specific development topic. It will contain links to carefully curated evidence products – research, findings, case studies, policy briefs, and platforms on volunteerism.

The UNHCR-UNV DAFI Initiative seeks to expand the success of the DAFI programme by addressing the difficulties that graduated refugees face when trying to enter the job market. The Initiative constitutes an opportunity for the DAFI graduates to gain professional experience as UN Volunteers in the UN System, where they can contribute with their unique background and perspectives to help achieving the SDGs.

From 19 to 20 November 2019, stakeholders from volunteer-involving organizations, civil society, academia, governments and United Nations entities met in Ouagadougou, to discuss how volunteerism can contribute to peace and development in the Sahel region. The roundtable was initiated by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, in collaboration with the African Institute for Economic Development and Planification (IDEP) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), to produce evidence of the impact of volunteerism in the Sahel.

On the occasion of IVD, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme has highlighted initiatives that include more people in sustainable development through volunteerism. One such initiative is the new UN Community Volunteer category, which enables more people to participate directly in social, environmental and economic change.

A panel on the importance of volunteerism in achieving SDG 10  and the persuit of equality including inclusion through volunteeerism and blood donation will be organised. The official International Volunteer Day celebration will take place on the 6th December at the Lycée  Professional, Man.

The International Volunteer Day 2019 celebrations in the Central African Republic started on 30th November, with solidarity activities at the centre for Deaf and hard hearing, Bangui. And the orphange Coeur Compatissant at Bimbo. However on the 5th of december an official ceremony and workshops will take place to raise awareness on how to create a more inclusive society.

On the occassion of International Volunteer Day 2019, we have organised a conference discussing how volunteerism can be a force to increase social inclusion in Ougadougou starting 9:00 AM. This will be followed by a volunteeer night starting at La Ruche from 6:30 pm, and festivals in Tenkodogo with a theme how volunteerism can empower populations and be a driver for development. When: 5th and 6th of December 2019, Ouagadougou,Tenkodogo, Burkina Faso respectively
