If you have at least 3 years of professional experience in one of the areas listed above and you have solid language skills in English and Burmese, we invite you to create a profile in the UNV Talent Pool by registering in our Unified Volunteering Platform (UVP). 

 

How to apply

To become a volunteer, candidates must register and complete a profile through UNV's Unified Volunteering Platform. Explore how to register your profile, and refer to further available resources, including the Unified Conditions of Service.

UNV publishes all its available onsite UNV assignments on https://app.unv.org. Details of requirements and tasks are included in every Description of Assignment (DOA) and may vary greatly. Please read the DOA carefully before deciding to apply.

 

UN Volunteer Assignments (onsite)

  • Duration: Varies between 3-48 months (with possibility of extension)
  • Starting date: Most require availability at short notice (within 1-2 weeks) 

 

Conditions of Service

  • Anyone above 18 years old, with or without previous experience, can apply for the assignment.
  • UNV assignments are categorized into different volunteer types, each with its specific focus and objectives, which align with the needs of UN agencies and the communities they serve.

 

UN Volunteer Categories: Year of work experience required

  • UN Expert Volunteer requires 7+ years of work experience  
  • UN Specialist Volunteer requires 3+ years of work experience
  • UN Community Volunteer No experience required
  • UN Youth Volunteer requires 1+ month of work experience 
  • UN University Volunteer requires 1+ month of work experience 

 

Benefits and entitlements for an on-site assignment

When you become a UN Volunteer, you will receive several types of benefits and allowances. These positions come with the following benefits and allowances:

  • Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA)
  • Travel tickets (entry on duty and repatriation) for international volunteers
  • Learning Opportunities
  • Annual Leave
  • Medical and Life Insurance
  • Exit Lump Sum Allowance
  • Entry Lump Sum Allowance

Online Volunteer assignments

  • Duration: Short-term, up to 20 hours per week for 12 weeks maximum
  • Starting date: Most require availability at short notice (within 1-2 weeks) 
  • Conditions of Service: Online Volunteers are not UN Volunteers. Anyone above 18 years old, with or without previous experience, can apply to support online task-based assignments free-of-charge, anywhere in the world, from any device. Online volunteers contribute their time and skills without any financial compensation. Upon completion of their assignment, Online Volunteers receive certificates of contribution.
