On the occasion of International Volunteer Day 2019, we are organizing presentations from youth volunteer groups, a fashion show from an LGBTQ group and a music session performed by people with disabilities. For International Volunteer Day 2019, we are celebrating "Inclusion in Volunteerism". During our event we will have a networking session, speeches from the Executive Director, the Representatiive of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). We will also be joined by former volunteers sharing their experiences and close the ceremony with live performances and music.

We will showcase a film produced for IVD and engage in discussion with volunteers and partners, including UN Women, the Association des Femmes Juristes and the African Leaders Factory Initiative. Olga acquired her physical-motor disability at the age of 13 due to muscular dystrophy, and since then, her wheelchair has become her ally. She has had to face social, attitudinal, architectural, and transport barriers that at certain times have hindered her full development and participation in social activities. All these challenges make her think that disability is not so much in the person but in the obstacles interfering with its independence and ability to function in society.
