As the world commemorated October 17th as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, key 'Buy Malawi' strategy stakeholders recognized the initiative as pivotal in tackling poverty in Malawi. Like most developing countries, a large proportion of the population generally prefer imported products and services to local ones.

What inspired you to write this book?

The YouthConnekt Africa Summit (YCA) provides a unique opportunity that brings together development partners under one roof to discuss evidence-based interventions that empower youth. Volunteerism is at the heart of the Summit, where youth volunteer platforms and volunteer mobilization are advocated as key strategies to channel the energy and innovative spirit of youth in the region to accelerate Africa’s progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Inspired by a strong will to make a difference, young people are very keen to tackle the challenges faced by youth all over the world. This is why UNV and AIESEC are organizing a workshop in Dakar, Senegal, on 7-8 September 2016, with the objective to harness Africa’s youth potential to meet the SDGs through volunteerism.
